We continue to improve the learning experience of children through providing nutritious and affordable lunch meals every day in public pre-primary and primary schools in 3 counties in Kenya.

Having served over 5,800,000 meals cumulatively since inception, Food for Education is continuously working to ensure no child remains hungry while in school.

Kitchen Expansion

We are excited to announce that our 4th kitchen is now complete and fully equipped!

The ultra-modern mega kitchen has the capacity to feed 30,000 children and achieve 100% clean energy with the use of steam-gas technology in preparation of the meals. The kitchen is a pioneer project that will revolutionise large-scale operations with the aim of advancing green technology and sustainable models. The kitchen efficiency has increased through a significant reduction in the time taken to cook the meals and we anticipate that the linear and advanced operations will also result to cost effective expenditures.

The 4th kitchen marks a significant step in our advancement to be a centre of excellence in school feeding.

The modern equipment has presented an opportunity for training and skill advancing for the kitchen staff as they look forward to use a better, faster and efficient cooking method.

Our food safety management system and standards of procedures have been upgraded through revision of our quality control checks during food preparation and distribution, achieving positive outcomes in our promise to deliver high quality meals.

Collaborations

Food for Education was invited by the Kenyan Senate Committee on Education for the Early Childhood Development Education workshop. Our Founder & Executive Director, Wawira Njiru was a key panelist in the discussion on advancing the status of school feeding in the country, with her presentation highlighting on innovative partnerships that strengthen nutrition outcomes.

We are elated with the collaborative effort between different stakeholders especially government agencies that are keen on implementing sustainable models of school feeding as a means of improving education outcomes.

KCPE 2020

The National examinations for the year 2020 were done in the month of March and we are happy to announce that the schools that we serve have performed exceptionally well! Some schools recorded an improvement of 20% in the examination over the last 3 years.

The results are a true testament of the impact of good nutrition to positive outcomes in education. As evidenced from the results cumulatively over the last three years, schools that have had our lunch meal program performed up to 30% better than schools that do not have any school feeding program.

Food for Education continues to champion investment in nutrition as a leverage to better education, creating better future for the most vulnerable children.
